The weather is (finally) warming up in Bozeman and summer is coming upon us.  It's the time of year to take your family (yes, some breweries are family friendly) and/ or friends to the local breweies for a cold one outside!  Here are 10 awesome Bozeman breweries and 4 great distilleries for you to check out this summer!

Breweries

The breweries are expansive and never have a shortage of people. The fun laid-back atmosphere is an attraction to locals and tourists alike.  Here are just 10 of the great Montana breweries:

406 Brewing Company

This brewery has great entertainment- be sure to check out their musical guests on Friday and Saturday nights! It’s easy to find yourself swaying to the music while sipping a good beer. Don’t skip the food- it is locally-sourced from organic farms in Montana and absolutely delicious. From the pesto cheese bread to the loaded nachos, you really can’t go wrong!

Bozeman Brewing Company

This is one of the most well-known breweries and one of the oldest! You can find their Bozone beers all over town, but it’s always more fun to go to the brewery itself! Their tasting room is a great place to go with a group of friends and try freshly brewed seasonal ales and lagers.

Bridger Brewing Company

The first two words that come to my mind when you say Bridger Brewing is pizza and coffee.  Their coffee stout is a fan favorite and their pizza is delicious. Buy it by the slice with your cold brew in hand and sit on their outdoor deck looking at the Bridgers – you won’t be disappointed!

Bunkhouse Brewery

The Bunkhouse is all about tradition- from their brews to giving back to the Bozeman community, they are all about purpose and passion.  This is the perfect place to go before (or after) the big game as they  are located across from the Brick Breeden fieldhouse.

Katabatic Brewing Company

Okay so this brewery isn’t in Bozeman exactly, but it is definitely worth the 30 minute drive to Livingston! Their tagline is "Rugged, Yet Refined," embodying the rugged terrain and individualistic pride of Montanans with their refined quality of beer.  In being part of a small, tight-nit community, they work to get involved.  Every Tuesday afternoon from 4pm to 8pm they give $1 from every pint sold to the Non-profit that is sponsored that week.  Every Sunday you get $1 off your first beer if you ride your bike to the brewery!  This is definitely a fun and beautiful space to be with plenty of tables, exposed brick and beams and a garage door opening up to the beautiful Montana summer!

Madison River Brewing

This brewery is located in Belgrade close to the airport.  You can find their beer at numerous locations across Montana, Idaho, Wyoming and North Dakota. Go in and their first beer, the Hopper Pale Ale, or their flagship beer, the Salmon Fly Honey Rye!

MAP Brewing

Go to MAP if you want a brewery with the VIEW!  Enjoy your IPA on their patio overlooking Bozeman Beach and the Bridgers!  The environment is family-friendly as you frequently see kids running around and 20-somethings playing games. It is always packed and for good reason!

Neptune’s Brewery

Another Livingston Brewery worth the drive! Enjoy this community gathering spot with sushi and a beer in hand!

Outlaw Brewing

This brewery is a little bit off the beaten path, but that doesn’t mean people struggle finding it! Located behind Target, you frequently see families there enjoying the popcorn machine and games!

White Dog Brewing Company

This is the only brewery on Main Street.  If you are looking for a more relaxed atmosphere, this is the place to go.  It isn’t a huge building and the selection is a bit smaller, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t worth the stop!

Distilleries

Now on to the distilleries. There aren’t as many as breweries, but they are definitely something to check out and enjoy!

Dry Hills Distillery

Head out to Four Corners for this semi-fancy, laid distillery. Be careful- their drinks are really strong and their specialty cocktails are delicious!

Bozeman Spirits Distillery

This distillery is located in the same building as White Dog Brewing, so you can try your beer and then head over to the distillery for their special huckleberry drinks with real huckleberries that are INCREDIBLE!

Wildrye Distilling

Located off Oak Street, you will find this great distillery that uses local goods to create their wonderful Montana spirits.  You can enjoy a whole array of different kinds of liquors including their all natural Wildrye Apple Pie liquor, their Premium Vodka finished using pure Montana mountain water, and their Ramsdell’s Parrot Dark Rum using Montana sugar beet sugar from Billings!

Willie’s Distillery, inc.

This is a bit of a drive (located in Ennis) but if you are traveling to West Yellowstone, it is a great place to stop on your way back to Bozeman! Enjoy Willie’s comfortable and inviting atmosphere as you taste a variety of liquors for just $1.00 per shot!

If you are wanting to try multiple breweries, consider taking a pub bike with some of your friends around town and stopping at 4 different breweries for 30 minutes each!  If you are interested in supporting Microwbrews of Montana as well as Reach Inc, consider purchasing a Brew Box with four pint glasses.  These were assembled and packed by adults with disabilities at the Reach Inc. Work Center.  Drink and support local!
